The desire for greater independence and challenge in my professional career. How many times have you changed employers in your career? 5 What specific qualities and traits do you feel make nurses especially qualified to operate a business? -Knowledge and practice of the nursing process. -Critical thinking, assessment, and problem solving skills and the ability to make and appropriately act upon quick, independent decisions. -The ability to follow through on these decisions, assess the outcomes, and the ability to change the plan as needed based on the current or anticipated situation. -People skills. -Attention to detail. Do you currently practice as a nurse? If yes in what type of setting? Yes, Occupational Health Your most pressing concerns with the profession and healthcare: (Please note, a response to this question is mandatory for a free listing): Concerns about the profession include: -Continued RN staffing issues. There continues to be a slow response/lack of concern and/or understanding by the medical community/government entities of the need to assure safe RN/patient ratios in all health care and health related settings. -Recruitment of future RN's. I am of the opinion that recruitment has to begin with the very young. I personally was exposed to the hospital setting at a very young age (6-7yr.) when I sometimes tagged along with my grandmother who was a pink lady at our small community hospital. I can remember wanting to be a nurse well before I entered middle school. -Lack of professionalism by current RN's. In 21yrs of nursing, I have seen way too many nurses who do not act in a professional, helpful, and courteous manner and who do not treat people (especially other nurses) with respect. I suppose this is another reason why I have chosen to start my own business as I can ensure my business will treat clients the way I want to be treated and provide services in a professional manner. Concerns about healthcare: -Rising costs of medical care and pharmaceuticals. -Lack of readily affordable healthcare (outside of the ER's) and support resources for the elderly on fixed incomes who do not qualify for Medicaid or other government programs. ****************************************************** For Health Information you can use, Follow, Connect, Like us on (Most Invites Accepted): http://www.nursefriendly.com/social/: Twitter! http://www.nursefriendly.com/twitter Blogger: http://4nursing.blogspot.com Facebook: http://www.nursefriendly.com/facebook Linked In: http://www.linkedin.com/in/nursefriendly Nursing Entrepreneurs, Nurses In Business, http://nursingentrepreneurs.ning.com/ Posterous.com, http://nursefriendly.posterous.com StumbleUpon, http://www.nursefriendly.com/stumbleupon
